Description

An open-source camera for robotics

The Luxonis OAK-D Lite camera combines stereo depth perception with artificial intelligence for real-time object detection and tracking. This can be useful in lots of contexts, including robotics.

Built around the Intel® Movidius™ Myriad™ X VPU, it includes three on-board cameras and offers 4 TOPS of processing power (1.4 TOPS for AI). It features 300,000-point stereo depth and an integrated 13 MP camera with an on-board 4K video encoder.

The OAK-D Lite is smaller, lighter and uses less power than the OAK-D. It’s more affordable, but does not have a built-in IMU or power supply.

Choosing the right focus

Both models come with the auto-focus and fixed-focus features:

  • Auto-focus: recommended for close objects between 10 cm to 50 cm of the device. They can also be manually set to a specific focus position utilizing the DepthAI API.
  • Fixed-focus: recommended for heavy-vibration applications, such as drones, lawnmowers, or vehicles.

Product of the year

In 2022, the OAK-D Lite was named Product of the Year in the cameras and sensors category for its ability to incorporate AI and computer vision while providing best depth perception.

OKD-Lite voted 2022 best camera of the year

Why choose a Luxonis camera?

Like the rest of the Luxonis OAK range, the OAK-D Lite works with the open-source DepthAI ecosystem of firmware, software and AI training, licensed by MIT. This allows quick set-up (less than 30 seconds) and use with the platform of your choice, including a Raspberry Pi, Jetson Nano SDK, Google Edge TPU Coral and many more! In addition, images are processed directly on the camera, which considerably reduces the load on your robot’s computer.

The OKD-D Lite camera is both an excellent starting point and a professional solution for AI and computer vision.
